Too much. Too much.

It has been a fiery, hard week. With presentations here and there, exams, requirements, papers, org events, and not to mention --- job interviews -- my nights are becoming more sleepless. This week, I still can't swallow the fact that I ran out of corporate attire and that I did not wear any of my jeans to school at all. Then and there, I realized that I have to shop for more corporate attires (plus the fact that I need to wear it everyday for my summer internship). And that --- will be the first thing I will do come March 27 (last day for me!).

Oh, and I also realized I should stop checking Facebook. It eats my time!

In class today, I have to admit I was snoozing. The sleepless week has probably taken its toll. Then unfortunately, during the times that I was awake, I was reading my Human Resources book for my exam on Monday. I feel guilty for the group reporters, they lost one active listener/audience.

Fortunately, research says that men are not good at multi-tasking, whilst women are. Thank God for making us this way! At least I was still able to insert note-taking and half-listening in class today. Here are some of the new things I learned in class today:

1. I never knew that copyrights are not registered beings, they are actually automatic. Meaning, once this post is published, it already has a copyright invisibly attached to protect it. AND it lasts a good 50 years after the author's (my) death. Cool huh.

2. Creative Commons (CC) helps the people of the world to be open to each other. Instead of suffering restrictions from patents and copyright laws, the world can easily access what they need through CC. However, when using this type of intellectual property, one must still follow these "golden rules":
a. Thou shalt put/retain the author's name.
b. Thou shalt not make any money or use the object for commercial purposes.
c. Thou shalt not change anything from/in/on it.
d. Thou shalt share and share alike.
e. (Unless otherwise contracted or given permission to do so,) thou shalt follow all these rules.

3. I finally learned the difference between viruses and worms. Viruses are those that cannot work unless inserted into a program, while worms are the ones who can work on their own. Meaning, worms are more deadly than viruses! Eeek. Be careful now. Do not open any .exe files that you do not know, it maybe a way for viruses and worms to enter your system.

4. IN my own words, spamming and flaming's difference is that: flaming is like defaming while spamming is like, hm... receiving a message that wastes your time when you read it.

There! I think you can surmise from my message how sleepless I am, I probably had a lot of typographical and grammatical errors, and probably lines or phrases that makes no sense at all.

Before I leave, i just want to say: I hope the rotating brown outs that are expected tomorrow won't strike the fans of Manny Pacquaio. We never know what they can do. Good luck Manny! (And also to the electric plants of our country!)

YOU Can Play Warcraft at Work

Oh yes you can.

You can!

You can use a Warcraft-like kind of strategy interface with enterprise applications. You need strategy for these systems. With strategy, it will make your life easier, your business processes easier, and other people's lives easier as well.

Enterprise applications provides and control and visibility over the entire business organization. It eases all processes and transactions within an organization. Under it there is Supply Chain Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, Customer Relationship Management, etc. It's cool to have one.

However, enterprise applications cost a lot. Only the multinationals are the ones who can really afford them. Fortunately, internet-based enterprise applications (like Net Suite) are already out there, waiting to be trusted. If you trust the internet, you may go ahead and try it out.

Keepsakes and Trinkets

I google-ed a synonym for "reminder" in order to place a better title for this post. Keepsake came out, and so did trinket.

Recently, God seems to be keeping on reminding me about life. Being in the third year of college and having a lot of extra-curricular activities, things just keep on piling up, leaving little time to spend with my loved ones. My brother forwarded me an email about taking time in prioritizing relationships over tasks. Relationships over tasks. Relationships over tasks. Relationships over tasks. I realized that we should continuously be vigilant about this.

Let me share what he sent me, it's good!

"A small touching story mainly for professionals. ..

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.
SON: "Daddy, may I ask you a question?"
DAD: "Yeah sure, what it is?" replied the man.
SON: "Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"
DAD: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?" the man said angrily.
SON: "I just want to know.. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?"
DAD: "If you must know, I make $20.00 an hour."
SON: "Oh," the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: "Daddy, may I please borrow $10.00 ?"

The father was furious, "If the only reason you asked that is so you
can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then
you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about
why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this
childish behaviour."

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little
boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some
money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to
think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that
$10.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went
to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

"Are you asleep, son?" He asked.
"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.
"I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier" said the man.
"It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $10.00 you asked for."
The little boy sat straight up, smiling.. "Oh, thank you daddy!" He
yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry
again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up
at his father.

"Why do you want more money if you already have some?" the father grumbled.
"Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied.
"Daddy, I have $20.00 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?

Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We
should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some
time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

Do remember to share that $20.00 worth of your time with someone you love.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily
replace us in a matter of days.
But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the
rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family."

Then by some twist of fate, I tripped over this quote by Robert Louis Stevenson:

"The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life."

Find time to meditate. It will surely either show you or remind you (like keepsakes and trinkets) about the things that matter most. Enjoy the simplest things in life and always remember: RELATIONSHIPS OVER TASKS.

NAPAKA-CHEESY naman nito. you may think. HAHA. but it's a good keepsake and trinket. =>
